…looking for the silver lining…

Alex Katz, whose reduction of a subject to its essence, concentration of light and atmospheric use of colour give his work a recognisability all its own, is regarded as a forerunner of Pop Art. The significance of his oeuvre is evident not least from the fact that two major retrospectives are planned for 2022 at the Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. In the solo exhibition ‘…looking for the silver lining…’, we are presenting a selection of his works to our collectors and clients.

For the first time, we are presenting his new limited-edition series “Sunset-Sunrise”, in which Alex Katz takes up the landscape of his home state of Maine and immerses the viewer in the atmosphere of the glow on the horizon.
