…Everything I see…

In the new exhibition ‘…Everything I See…’, which opens on 11 September 2020 at our gallery in Hamburg, we are presenting the latest works by the Hamburg-based artist Simon Nelke.
His works tell stories of human figures who seem to be transported to distant, mythical-seeming worlds, somewhere between yesterday and tomorrow. Delicate, fragile and often dreamlike, his figures find themselves in undefined places. Simon Nelke invites us to share in this view of the world, which bears witness to inner conflict, uncertainty and the hidden. What characterises his painting is the process of bringing to light what lies beneath: partially removing layers of paint, layer by layer, revealing what lies hidden and making the concealed the subject of his work.
