The exploration of space
9 February – 12 April 2024
The unexpected death of Lois Renner in August 2021, shortly before his 60th birthday, has hit all of us who were close to him hard. Lois was a wonderful, creative person, a gifted artist and painter, and a true free spirit. The fact that he left us so early is a great loss for his family, for all of us and for the art world. For more than 10 years, we were bound together by a partnership built on trust.
Over the past two years, working closely with the community of heirs, we have done everything in our power to ensure that his life’s work lives on with dignity and in a fitting manner, is preserved for posterity, and remains accessible to the public, museums and collectors. Fulfilling this responsibility has been, and remains, an ongoing process. Now that fundamental issues have been resolved, we are able to stage an exhibition this year, the first since his death. Together with the community of heirs, we have curated a retrospective featuring several works that have never before been exhibited, alongside special exhibits from various phases of his career.
The exhibition Die Erforschung des Raumes (The Exploration of Space) is a tribute to the artist Lois Renner, through which we wish to honour and celebrate him and his life’s work.
