Bridges Over Magma
17 April – 21 May 2026
Works by the Danish artist Kasper Eistrup were exhibited in Germany for the first time. As part of an artist-in-residence programme, Eistrup transformed the Barlach Halle K into his studio for four weeks, where he created the works for Bridges Over Magma. At the Open Studio on 10 and 11 April, collectors and members of the public were able to follow the creation of the works.
Eistrup’s paintings, mostly large-scale, combine a wide variety of materials, painting techniques and motifs: from meticulous depictions of people and objects to emotional abstraction. It all begins with drawing; carefully developed motifs give rise to multi-layered pictorial spaces, collages in which order and chaos create a subtle tension.
The exhibition opened on 16 April 2026 with an introduction by Dr Ina Jessen at Jungfrauenthal 4.
