In his latest works, too, Heiner Meyer explores pioneers of Pop Art. He draws inspiration from artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Basquiat and David Hockney, whilst remaining true to his own distinctive style. This new series of works is also shaped by his enthusiasm for the fundamental ideas of this art movement, which the artist himself has been reinterpreting and developing in his art for decades.
Heiner Meyer continues to view Pop Art as an expression of contemporary reality, confronting us with the glamour and sex appeal of the ubiquitous world of advertising and drawing the viewer into enigmatic, narrative scenarios. With references to the major labels and luxury brands of our time, he succeeds, in a wholly individual way, in translating the fundamental idea of Pop Art into the present day and in continuing its tradition in a new way.
