About Heiner Meyer
Heiner Meyer has received numerous awards throughout his career and has taught at institutions including the HBK in Braunschweig. He is a painter of great technical precision and knows how to weave messages for the attentive viewer in his paintings, collages and prints as well as in his sculptures. Rather than simply replicating a well-known artistic movement, he has developed a direction of his own.
His work is represented internationally by around 20 galleries, shown at art fairs and held in collections including those of Tommy Hilfiger, Sean Ferrer Hepburn, Nicolas Zoulas, Sullivan & Cromwell, the Museum Würth, the Museum Ritter, the Museum Oldenburg, JAB Anstoetz, VW/Piëch, Escada and the Mang Collection.
In a style reminiscent of Pop Art, Heiner Meyer depicts themes he has gathered over the years from everyday life and the art world. He sees them as an expression of contemporary reality, confronting us with the glamour and sex appeal of the ever-present world of advertising and drawing us into enigmatic narrative scenarios. His sculptural work (handbags, perfume bottles and comic-book characters) is finding collectors not only in Germany but increasingly in the United States and Asia.
