Falko Behrendt

Falko Behrendt’s artistic project is fundamentally shaped by two kinds of depth. His figures and landscapes evoke the Mecklenburg of yesteryear, and the depth of a bygone era in which figures and landscapes appear as though from a fairy tale. In etchings, lithographs and screen prints, coloured forms and delicate networks of lines coalesce into spaces of experience in which dreams and memories intertwine. As was the case in Paul Klee’s work, the process of creating the prints is itself a significant element. Through revision and superimposition, new approaches and erasure, Behrendt creates a transparent depth that lends his subjects the persuasive power of the fairy-tale.
