Jochen Plogsties
The painter Jochen Plogsties studied under Friedemann Hahn at the Mainz Academy of Fine Arts and under Arno Rink at the Academy of Graphic Arts and Book Art in Leipzig, where he completed his studies in 2008 as a master student of Neo Rauch. He paints icons of art history and in doing so unsettles the viewer’s habits of seeing.

About Jochen Plogsties
The painter Jochen Plogsties studied under Friedemann Hahn at the Mainz Academy of Fine Arts and under Arno Rink, the mentor of the New Leipzig School, at the Academy of Graphic Arts and Book Art in Leipzig, where he completed his studies in 2008 as a master student of Neo Rauch.
The artist paints icons from art history, thereby challenging the viewer’s visual habits. Through his approach to subject matter and the associated questions of relevance, he ventures into the realm of colour and practises pure, sensually experienced painting. What we thought we knew is presented anew, refreshing our perspective and affirming the need for open-minded perception.
